Welcome to our Prairie Vision’s website! We have become a leading practice in the Wainwright area solely because as family eye doctors, we treat our patients like family. Ever since Prairie Vision began, we decided to build our establishment for the benefit of our patients and have continued that commitment until today.
Our team of eye doctors and eye care staff are here to care for all of your vision needs. We handle everything from adult and children’s eye exams and hard-to-fit contact lenses, vision therapy for eye conditions, to eye emergencies, treatment of eye diseases and co-management of eye surgery such as LASIK.

Our History and Values
Prairie Vision is a continuation of Wainwright’s original optometric practice which was started by Dr. John Baker. Dr. Baker sold his practice to Dr. Roxanne Arnal in 1997 which is when the name change occurred. What has never changed is the solid tradition of protecting and preserving the vision of the residents of Wainwright and area.
Dr. Laureen Laturnas joined the practice as an associate in 2005 and became a partner in 2010. In 2012, Dr. Tanya Jones-Greenwood became an owner and partner with Dr. Laturnas.
In June, 2017, Prairie Vision was very excited to announce a new addition to our Prairie Vision team, Dr. Rebecca Ference-Chopek, who hails from Consort, Alberta.
At the basis of everything we do at Prairie Vision is the credo of Diamond Service. The idea behind Diamond Service is going above and beyond expectations, and treating our patients the way they want to be treated. Essentially, we focus on caring for each patient as an individual. We review not only your examination results, but also how these findings relate to your life and what is important to you. Lifestyle considerations are vital in ensuring that you not only have healthy sight, but that it is maximized to your individual needs.
The optometrists at Prairie Vision strongly believe in the benefits of early diagnosis. As a result, we continue to bring big-city services to our small town. This means that you have access to technological advances and the benefits of personal recognition. We are proud to have been the recipients of the Wainwright Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year in 2006 and to see our own Diane Graham honored as Employee of the Year in 2009. In October 2012 another long-term employee Marie Axley was nominated for the same award. We thank our many patients who submitted wonderful recommendation letters for each of these deserving employees.
Today, our team of 12 has over 120 years of combined eye care experience. In 2013 we achieved the goal of having 100% of our employees accredited as Optometric Assistants. We continue to upgrade our knowledge by attending continuing education seminars throughout Canada as well as internationally. Dr. Jones-Greenwood and Dr. Meghan Martyna have travelled extensively to increase their breadth of knowledge and continue to surpass the minimum required number of hours for licensure. The doctors are also proud volunteers within their profession and within the Wainwright area.
Prairie Vision is a founding member of EyeRecommend. This now-national organization of independent optometric offices permits us to offer improved pricing on products to our patients, as well as enhance our business knowledge. We strive to provide our patients with the ultimate in value and quality in both their eyecare and eyewear.
